Jill Smith has a life long passion for the ancient art of Raku clay firing. Raku to Jill is the coming together of clay, fire, and soul. Her unique use of brushed on glazes before firing produces rainbow colors. The Raku process involves brushing a hand thrown clay pot with a metallic glaze, placing it in a small kiln and firing it about 1800 degrees. Each pot removed has a one of a kind appearance due to the spontaneity of the flames.
